The Vid

An independent journal published at Lafayette College, Easton PA

The Vid offered investigative journalism, alternative views and creative works by students of Lafayette College. It was notable as a central player in a protest movement against large tuition increases in April 1991, and a successful resistance against a censorship attempt by the college administration in November 1990. It was born on 10/21/1990, the first issue was published on 11/2/1990, and it ran aground in the mid 1990's. (There is a paper archive in the Lafayette College Library dated 11/2/90-9/28/93.)

This wiki collects and digitizes the archive. The Vid Issue Index contains headlines and authors for all issues.

If you are a former contributor to The Vid, dig around in your shoeboxes and birdcages for floppy disks and old issues. If you have an old article, cartoon or artwork that you would like to preserve for the ages, send it to us, preferably the original file. Or, sign up as a user of this wiki and upload it. For articles, text is preferred over a scanned image but both can be uploaded. Start by finding the item you'd like to submit in The Vid Issue Index.

For details on how to edit this wiki and import old file formats, see How To Edit and Import. To see what remains to be done see the To Do List.

If you are a current Lafayette student and would be interested in participating in this digital archiving project, let us know.

If you are for some reason further interested in this old noise, feel free to contact Tony Brooke, Laine Fast or Jon Fast.

Another good on-campus source of info is Professor Woolley in the Lafayette English department.
